Returned for a couple of design reasons

This was a tough decision but I decided to return it for a couple of little reasons. The deciding factor was that it doesn't have a two-way zipper. That may be a dumb little thing, but it's a pretty standard feature and I'm surprised they didn't include it on a jacket like this. The other reason is that the outer pockets are quite shallow and the zippers are totally vertical so it just seems like asking for things to fall out of them unless you make sure the zippers are closed all the time, and little things could easily fall out without notice in the few seconds of putting a glove into it, etc. . There are a few inside pockets and I may not have minded it if I decided to keep it but it seemed like something that would bug me. My main use for a shell like this would be for winter trail running and snow shoeing. These are obviously high cardio activities with a lot of leg movement so I'd really like the option to keep my shell closed at my waist and open at my hips, both for ventilation and comfort of movement. Otherwise, I really like the features of this jacket a lot and the construction seems solid. The hood design is great and the sleeves are tapered so they provide a little more coverage for the back of your hands. But being able to close my jacket at my waist and leave it open elsewhere is a feature I use all the time so that decided for me. For climbing or other activities, this may not matter. I decided on a shell from another brand that is very similar but has slightly better front outer pockets and a two-way zipper.

so good, looks good, good quality!

I love this jacket, even though I'm not sure it works for what I bought it for, which was nordic skiing. I'm going to try it, but it needs a little more weight for that. and for the price, I thought it would have that, but this is an alpine climbing shell, good for torrental rain. The thing is, it looks great! every time I wear it I get compliments, and it is so good in photos. So vanity wins and I pay more, but I'm keeping it.
